WESLEY TUTTLE
Wesley Tuttle was one of the top stars of country and Western in the 1940s and 1950s. His biggest hit “With Tears In My Eyes,” in 1945, and “Detour” the following year are undisputed classics, while his lively Capitol recordings are a colorful reminder of the friendly collusion and exciting musicianship that identified the best of the genre.

Tuttle was a remarkable and charismatic human being whose generous spirit glows through the more than 120 sides he recorded between 1945 and 1955. Although not as famous a performer or enduring a star as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers or Tex Ritter, Wesley Tuttle was as talented a singer-guitarist. At times more Western than country (country music per se did not take off until the late 1950s) and tinged with a vivacious mix of raw folk roots and jazz and swing flavors, the music of Wesley Tuttle is a soothing and joyful cocktail well worth the detour.
