Mickael Furnon – or Mickey, as he has been called since junior high – is a singer-songwriter and the leader of Mickey 3D, one of France’s most distinctive and successful rock groups of the nascent century. Before forming the moody trio, he led the alternative-rock formation 3dK for ten years, wielding a heavily electric and experimental rock sound laden with Anglo-Saxon influences.

Mickey’s music is nothing if not atmospheric. Songs follow emotional trends and moody paths, combining touching and urgent lyrics sung in Mickey’s intimate, almost monotonous style, with musical arrangements that create a visual, movie-like texture. Whether sparse and acoustic or boldly electric, his songs generate a lot of heat – and the words are merely one facet of a rich, yet unpretentious, distillation.
