KUNI
guitar, TAKEUCHI
Plays Guitar Left Handed with default stringing.
Kuni is a dynamic impresario-producer and a head-spinning metal guitarist. He has pursued a sporadic solo career, living in the U.S. for ten years, and recording his own compositions with an impressive stable of participants, such as Paul Stanley (Kiss), Jeff Scott Solo (Yngwie Malmsteen), Mike Terrana (Rage), and Dennis St. James (Skull).
Kuni writes music for television and animation films, produces other bands, and runs his own label in Tokyo. While his own music may remain entrenched in the narrow sphere of 1980s-style metal, his productions and other projects reach into a wide variety of guitar-driven rock.
Kuni has had his moment in the limelight as a persuasive and tasteful guitarist in a genre too often fraught with pretension and unsavory excess. His guitar work has endured thanks to his intelligent composing and perhaps, to some degree, its underlying humor – an ingredient sorely missing from many of his American peers.
A jovial and energetic artist, Kuni’s production skills and entrepreneurial savvy will no doubt keep him close to the pulse of rocking trends in Japan, and perhaps riding the next film-video-computer-music fad into the West.
